Updated: November 16, 2007
A new study finds that Alzheimer's Disease might progress more rapidly in people with high blood pressure or a form of irregular heartbeat.

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University looked at Alzheimer's patients with high blood pressure or atrial fibrillation. They found that memory loss was 100% faster in those with high blood pressure and 75%faster in those with an irregular heartbeat, when compared with "normal" Alzheimer's patients.

Researchers say treating these two heart-related conditions in patients who suffer from them, may slow memory loss.
