Omni Bedford Springs Resort is a luxury golf and spa destination, tucked among the rolling hills outside Bedford.
Executive Chef David Noto recently turned their kitchen over to find some healthy and tasty treats for their younger visitors. Chef Noto says, "The kids came in energetic wanting to cook and have some fun."
Bedford Elementary students came to teach these guys about what tempts a kids' taste buds!
Guidance Counselor Joanne Bortz said, "Yesterday we had a brainstorming session where they talked about healthy foods and if they help prepare things you know for their parents, what they like to eat, their favorites."
Once in the kitchen, they split into teams to come up with thier own unique recipes! The winners, wind up on the resort's children's menu.
Abby Cable, 5th Grade Chef said, "We came up with a fruity brownie which is a brownie sliced in half with peanut butter in the inside. The rest of the brownie sits on top, and then we add some whipped cream on top with sprinkles on it, and some pineapples, strawberries, blueberries and grapes."
The judges loved her group's brownie recipe and gave it a spot on the dessert menu.
Nathaniel's team scored big too.
Nathaniel Semenak, another 5th Grade Chef explained, "So our meal was called mac and cheese. It was a tomato wrap and it had turkey, boisan cheese, and it had grapes on a tomato wrap. So it was really good, it was named turkey wrap and cheesy mac with two combined meals and we won. So we had a great time, it was really fun."
