HUNTINGDON, HUNTINGDON COUNTY  - More than one week after some flash flooding hit the region, some people are still in the process of dealing with the damage.

It was last Tuesday when the rain came down hard especially in part of Huntingdon County.

Before the storms were over part of a couple of small communities in the southern part of the County were under water.

The scene on this Wednesday in the Community of Santillo was much different than it was eight days ago.  At that time, water came roaring off of the surrounding hillsides and made some streets in the community impassable.

One property owner said he was unable to get to his Railroad Street home because of how fast the water went up.

The head of the Huntingdon County Emergency Management Agency, Adam Miller, reported that some communities got almost three and half inches of rain in less than an hour and the effects were still being felt more than a week later.

Some of the homeowners affected by the flash flood say they are at least getting some attention from state and federal authorities.

As the  clean up continues in the hard hit communities,  some residents say they expect no further problems as along as the weather cooperates.

Emergency workers in Huntingdon County are aware of   flooding problem areas. But with a number of people who live in flood planes in the county,   those problems are difficult to address.

Huntingdon County Officials continue to seek State and Federal grants that can be used for flood control and relief projects.  But as long as homes and businesses are located in flood prone areas, making any specific changes can be an expensive  proposition.

Know Your BMI

FYI, your BMI is PDI.

Huh? Would you like a translation? Here it is: For your information (FYI), your body mass index (BMI) is pretty darn important (PDI).

Did you know you had a BMI? Body mass index is a calculation that uses your height and weight to estimate how much body fat you have. Too much body fat is a problem because it can lead to illnesses and other health problems. BMI, although not a perfect method for judging someone's weight, is often a good way to check on how a kid is growing.

Calculate Your BMI

The best way to determine your BMI is to have your doctor do it for you. That way, you'll know the number is accurate and your doctor can discuss the result with you. If you're interested, you also can figure out your BMI on your own.
