"It's been proven that people learn better by moving, because they embody the information rather than just memorizing, " says KT Huckabee.
KT Huckabee teaches dance and movement at Penn State Altoona. This summer she's teaching teachers about incorporating movement into their lesson plans.
"Movement is no longer something that is a no-no. It is something that is accepted, something that is encouraged."
She says a simple geography lesson can be changed into a life-moving experience for elementary kids.
"The creator of the map can create a key. Certain color means certain things certain shapes could identify a certain style of movement. Then the mover of that map has to follow that key and perform it for the class."
"This is how they learn, this is how they learn about the world, how they learn about themselves in the world."
The next "Movement as a Tool for Educating Workshop" will be held in early August.
