In "Fit Kids First" -  we look at a popular kids fitness camp that just started back up again this week at ProCare.

This Healthy Kidz Camp at ProCare Health and Fitness in Altoona is all about fun  -- and fitness.

Julie says, "This week we've been doing tennis,  and we've been mountain climbing,  and doing like step aerobics."

The Superheroes theme turned these kids into caped crusaders.

9 year old Caleb says, "Superheroes are like that."

Organizers brought in some real-life superheroes like nurses, veterans and this officer from Altoona police .

They talked about their own lifestyles and why it's important to get and stay active.

8 year old Madi explains, "Me and my mom run races a lot -- mountain climbing and tennis."

And these mini-sized healthy heroes got it!

As Madi says, "So you stay healthy and so you can live a better life!"

This year's Kid's camp has a fantasy sports camp theme.

ProCare has various kid's camps and programming for kids of all ages.

Know Your BMI

FYI, your BMI is PDI.

Huh? Would you like a translation? Here it is: For your information (FYI), your body mass index (BMI) is pretty darn important (PDI).

Did you know you had a BMI? Body mass index is a calculation that uses your height and weight to estimate how much body fat you have. Too much body fat is a problem because it can lead to illnesses and other health problems. BMI, although not a perfect method for judging someone's weight, is often a good way to check on how a kid is growing.

Calculate Your BMI

The best way to determine your BMI is to have your doctor do it for you. That way, you'll know the number is accurate and your doctor can discuss the result with you. If you're interested, you also can figure out your BMI on your own.
