ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - Wednesday night's snowy blast of weather caught a lot of people off guard. Some places saw a few inches of wet heavy snow, and that caused wrecks and other problems across Central Pennsylvania.

One crash happened around 5:00 Wednesday night in Logan Township. It was near the intersection of Old Sixth Avenue and sandy run road. Two cars collided on the snowy roads and four people were taken to the hospital. Snow was a couple inches thick on the roads there.

In Hollidaysburg around that time, the snow was falling so think you couldn't see through it. Cars were slowing down a little on Route 36 to make up for the snow.

Further north in Centre County several towns and townships declared snow emergencies. The streets were covered but students were still walking to get where they needed to go.

Some people were making the most of the snowy conditions. We found a family making a seven foot tall snowman along Sixth Avenue in Altoona.
