Benefit for Fire Victims

CLEARFIELD, CLEARFIELD COUNTY - A benefit  for the victims of Saturday's fire in downtown Clearfield is in the works. It is still in the planning stages, but save the date March 2, 5:00 in the Expo 2 Building at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds.

Currently, Buster's is sponsoring the venue location and they are looking to the community for donations of: food, drinks, plates, cups, silver wear, etc. and also prizes for an auction.

Entertainment is currently in the works as well. They plan to have lots of live music, food and drinks.

Tickets will be $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

The event is being planned by a committee. Becki Soult is the planning chair. She is best friends with the owners of Ethan's.

"I was just thinking what can I do what can I do" said Soult.

The money raised at the event will go towards the 8 employees of Ethan's who are now without a job and the owners. Other small businesses jumped on the chance to help and are donating food, music and drinks.

"Speechless absolutely Speechless I have never encountered so much outpouring and support love for people. It's why I love living in Clearfield" said Soult.

Plus, the event will serve as a collection site for the families who lost their apartments and belongings in the fire.

Their landlord, Dustin Quigley says he is trying to get the 6 or more people displaced by the fire into new apartments.

"I have a few other apartments that are vacant right now - we are trying to get them cleaned up so I can get the tenants into them" he said.

My daughter Blair Smith and her friend Mary Liegey started posting on facebook the night of the fire to collect clothes and etc for the families that lost everything in the fire. We have their clothing sizes and etc, and anyone can fb her at KyleandBlair Maines (space between Blair and Maines) and there is a post on there from Sunday am February 10, 2013 about helping these families out. My daughter and friend are 14 and the families have already started thanking them personally for all their help and emails and prayers. I as well, blairs mom, emailed local companies to see if they would be willing to donate anythin to these families but most said they team up with salvation army. One thing i dont understand though is they were only given 3 nites in a hotel so where are they supposed to go now..they have absolutly nothing. Thank you for posting about the benefit on March 2, but please let everyone know my daughter blair and mary started collecting clothes as of Sunday morning February 10, 2013
