Another round of snow moved through Altoona Friday, coating the region in about two inches of snow and slowing drivers.

"We were hoping to get an early start and it looks like it set in before we were anticipating," said Damien Crissey, who was driving from Virginia to Pittsburgh with his family. "But it's definitely a little iffy driving right now."

Crews from the highway department and turnpike worked to keep roads clear, but roads became tricky in spots.

"The turnpike was good until about two miles ago, and then both lanes were getting covered," said Enrico Della Corna, who stopped in Bedford on his way to Pittsburgh.

For most drivers on I-99, snow could be blown off the road by a passing vehicle, but snow plows were on the road as well.

"I'm hoping they cinder, plow, whatever they have to do," said Nancy Smith, who was heading home after work.

For those heading home or away, drivers were taking the necessary precautions.

"I will be going slow," said Smith. "Everybody will say 'Oh, get her off the road.'."

"It's going to take longer than it normally does, but it's okay," said Della Corna.

"Just drive safe, and stay back away from plows," said Alan Hykes with the Altoona Highway Department. "Give us a chance to do our job."

Plows will be able to clear the roads this evening, but remember any slush on the roads will freeze with the frigid temperatures.
