Rachel Fetzer is the Director of Centre Huntingdon Tapestry of Health, which is a direct service site of the Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania.
Centre Huntingdon Tapestry of Health serves women's health needs, including family planning and breast and cervical cancer screening in Centre, Huntingdon and Clinton Counties.
In addition to the Centre Huntingdon Tapestry of Health, Fetzer is also the chairperson of the Centre County Partnership for Community Health, or CCPCH, which consists of a number of different agencies, working together to meet the health and wellness needs of the local community.
CCPCH has partnered up with Mount Nittany Health to hold a first of its kind Health Summit this February. The Summit will bring together leaders in the area with a vested interest in the health and well being of area citizens. Leaders from all levels of government along with health, social service agencies, and other experts have been invited.
While the public isn't allowed to attend the Summit, their input is both wanted and needed. Mount Nittany Health will be doing a Community Needs Assessment in the near future. One of the most important questions is, "What are the barriers to people in our region to having good health?" Information on how to be involved in the survey will be available online.
While officials admit the Summit may not solve all of the problems immediately, it will give them good ways to move forward.
A second Summit will take place in the Spring and the results of the Community Needs Assessment Survey will be available in June.
