UNIVERSITY PARK, CENTRE COUNTY - Nittanyville campers are already out at Beaver Stadium preparing for Saturday's big game against Ohio State.

This Saturday's Penn State Football game presents an interesting scenario. Neither Ohio State nor the Nittany Lions can play in a Bowl Game this year, and the teams are in first and second place in their Big Ten Division.

Penn State students still think this is a big game, and they're already filling up Gate A outside Beaver Stadium in anticipation for it.

There's something different in the air.

"Everyone's really hyped up for this game," Penn State junior Caitlin Kirchoff said.

And no, it's not the unusually warm weather. It's Nittanyville campers, out in record numbers, preparing for Saturday's big game against Ohio State.

"I knew it would be packed, but I wasn't sure what to expect about how many people would come and i didn't realize it's a record number," Senior Tyler Welker said.

"It's absolutey huge just to see all of the students come together to support the football team," Freshman Jared Dailey said.

Dailey has been camped out Gate A since Monday night, the earliest campers have set up so far this season.

"I think it's just a small version of what the game's going to be like Saturday," Dailey said.

And he's not alone. 1200 students in 144 groups make up this Nittanyville camping scene for the Ohio State game, the largest number in camper history.

"People drive by and honk their horns for us and people will start cheering," Kirchoff said.

"I've never seen this many tents before, it's great," Ron Fake said.

Fake's a Penn State fan. He and his wife say they're psyched to see this support.

"Oh, it's fantastic. It's phenomenal," he said.

Needless to say, campers will stay here all week, preparing for the big game and hoping for a win.

"I think it will be around Penn State 28, Ohio State either 21 or 24, but i think we actually do have a pretty good chance of beating them, so it'll be exciting," Senior Tyler Welker said.
