Politicians React to Specter's Death

ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - Many Pennsylvania politicians and activists are reacting to the news of his passing.

Blair county Republican Chairman AC Stickle says Arlen Specter left a great political legacy. He says because of Specter's work led to several strong Supreme Court Justices.

Blair County Democractic Chairman Frank Roosenhoover is remembering him as a real moderate who worked with both parties for the good of Pennsylvanians.

Several other politicians also released statements about the late senator's passing. Congressman Mark Critz said "We are a better commonwealth and nation because of his service and I hope it is a comfort to his wife, Joan, and to their entire family that so many grieve their loss and are praying for them during this sad time."

And Senator Bob Casey said "Arlen fought cancer courageously and his enduring legacy of support for the national institutes of health will help countless Americans as they battle cancer and other ailments. My thoughts and prayers are with Joan, Shanin, Stephen and his entire family.

The President called Arlen Specter a fighter and sent his condolences to specter's family. And Governor Tom Corbett said "Pennsylvania has lost a political figure whose career stretched from Philadelphia's city hall to the chambers of the U.S. Senate. We are saddened to hear of his death."
