Could Lottery Bid Expand Gambling In PA?

By: Aaron Cheslock
Updated: January 11, 2013

HARRISBURG - The British company Camelot Global Services bid on a chance to run the PA lottery was scheduled to expire yesterday.

But Governor Corbett and Camelot agreed to extend the bid through Friday night.

It's the second time it's been postponed.

PA State Representative Jerry Stern (R-80th District) says if a private company were to operate the lottery, it could expand gambling in Pennsylvania.

"....I'm not opposed to the privatization issue, but I am concerned about a private company possibly taking expanded gambling to another level such as Keno, they may add Keno to that equation, and I think that should be under the purview of the general assembly...."

Council 13 is the union for lottery employees. They're suing to block an agreement with Camelot and to challenge governor Corbett's authority to sell to a private company.

Tom Corbett closed down all the little casinos, said they was taking away Lottery money and from the big cansinos, then he sells they Pa Lottery. whay is wrong with this picture? He is up to no good, I have a strong filling on this. If it was investagated I bet there would be corruption on this. Everyone I know enjoyed those little casinos that he had closed down and made it look like they was no good taking away PA lottery money. What a joke.
