A YMCA contest helps you gain prizes and confidence while losing pounds and inches.

It's called "Weigh to Go!" and Dan McKenna, of the YMCA of Centre County, stopped in to tell us all about it.

"Weigh to Go!" encourages weight loss through proper diet and physical activity.  The contest runs from January 14th to March 10th, and registration is currently open.

You do not have to be a member of the YMCA to participate.  In fact, last year 25% of all participants were not Y members.

Prizes will be awarded to the individual or team with the highest total weight loss, highest percentage of weight loss, or with the highest total activity minutes.

During the last "Weigh to Go" Challenge, participants lost a total of 1,340 pounds and recorded just short of 350,000 activity minutes.  That averages out to 8 pounds per person, and over 1,700 minutes of activity per person.
