Wendell and Ginny Routch said their "I Do's" on national television on the CBS show "Bride and Groom."  The couple lives in Hastings, Cambria County and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary!

Wendell was serving our country in Georgia for the Army at the time, and had to take a leave to make the television appearance in New York City.

He says his mother suggested that Ginny apply for the television show. She and Wendell sent in an application, a photo and a written essay featuring their "love story". CBS executives were impressed with every detail, especially the fact that Wendell was the leader of a dance band and Ginny was his "singer of love songs". They focused on that part of their story when the couple was introduced to viewers across the country at their t.v. wedding, March 10th, 1952.

On wedding day, their home town of Hastings was buzzing about their wedding. Students were brought out of school to watch the wedding on television at the Moose (the only public place that had a t.v. at the time).

Watch this story to see their 1950's wedding on national television!
