For today's segment, Deborah O'Shell, from the Blair County Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, brings in a Chinese Water Dragon. The Chinese Water Dragon grows up to 3 feet long, although its tail accounts f0r 70% of its length. The long tail is used for balance, swimming, and to whip potential predators. The Chinese Water Dragon is green. It has a third eye on the top of its head, which lets them know which areas to make their basking areas.
The Chinese Water Dragon makes for a good pet because it does not bite as much as other lizards. They are carnivorous and insectivorous, so they prefer eating insects. They use long tongues to catch their prey. To learn more about the Chinese Water Dragon visit: http://www.bcwr.org/home.html.
