Jazz Singer Transforms Genre @ PSU

She has taken a unique and eclectic approach to singing jazz, creating her own musical genre.
She was born in 1976 in Los Angeles. Her father, Dave Parlato, played bass for Frank Zappa, so she got an early start in making and learning about music.
She has released three albums, and she's been a guest vocalist on more than 50 recordings and projects.
Her style has progressed jazz music.
Gretchen will be performing at the Schwab Auditorium at Penn State on Friday night, at 7:30 p.m. She will be backed by a piano, bass and percussion.
Friday afternoon she serenaded some VIPs at Hearthside Nursing Home. Gretchen said it's important to reach out to the community and give everyone a chance to experience art and music.
