Wednesday, Jul 29, 2009 @09:57pm EDT (San Francisco, CA) -Just hours after shortstop Jack Wilson and pitcher Ian Snell were
traded to Seattle, the Pirates continued their major overhaul shipping
second baseman Freddy Sanchez to San Francisco. The 31-year-old Sanchez, a three-time All-Star and the 2006 National League batting champion, is hitting .296 with six homers and 34 RBI in 86 games this season. In exchange, the Pirates acquire pitcher Tim Alderson rated as the Giants fourth top prospect by Baseball America. Alderson will be assigned to Altoona.
