Reported by: Kevin Valentine Tuesday, Jun 16, 2009 @01:10pm EDT A clothing retailer is warning women not to wear its line of chenille bathrobes after receiving reports linking them to at least six deaths.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Pennsylvania-based Blair LLC announced yesterday that the garments were being recalled due to a fire hazard. So far, six people have died when their robes burst into flames, including five women who were wearing the robes while cooking. This is the second recall issued for the chenille robes since the company first started receiving reports of them catching fire back in April. They were sold from January 2003 to March 2009 for between 20 and 40 dollars through the Blair catalog and website, as well as in Blair stores in Wilmington, Delaware, and Warren and Grove City, Pennsylvania. The company is offering refunds or 50-dollar gift cards to customers who return the robes. More information and specific item numbers included in the recall can be found on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website. Recall & Safety News (Copyright 2009 by Newsroom Solutions) |
