We're learning more about Fort Hood shooting victims. One of the men killed in the attack is Dr. Edurado Caraveo, a man with professional and personal ties to our region.

Dr. Caraveo came to the area around 1996. He worked at FCI Loretto and had a private practice in Altoona. Dr. Todd Negola says what happened at Fort Hood was a tragedy for all the victims and their families. But he's thinking specifically of his friend Dr. Caraveo. He actually hired Negola to work with him at FCI Loretto.

Bill Wilkinson worked with him there too. He says Dr. Caraveo was always willing to help anyone out.  He was a good doctor and a good friend.

Dr. Caraveo left the area around 1999 when he joined the Army Reserves. He was serving in the 467th Combat Stress Control Army Reserve detachment at Fort Hood.

Wilkinson says Dr. Caraveo helped veteran's who served all over the world deal with the stress of combat. Both men want the victims and their families to find some kind of peace.
