Reported by: Kevin Flanigan Monday, Nov 2, 2009 @06:42pm EST ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - Nineteen year-old Nicole Chauvet died after a car she was riding in collided with another car Sunday Evening.
She was a student at Penn State Altoona.
The crash happened around 6:30 Sunday Evening at the intersection of Chestnut Avenue and Juniata Gap Road.
With one student killed and another seriously injured, word of the fatal accident quickly spread around the Penn State Altoona Community.
The investigation into the fatal crash is still underway. But at this time it appears to be a case of an unfortunate collision between two cars that will leave a last impact on the Penn State Altoona community. Nicole Chauvet was in her second year at Penn State Altoona. The Education Major from the Pittsburgh Area was in the middle of her first year on the Penn State Altoona Cheerleader squad. The coach of that organization says Nicole's sudden death has the rest of the team almost in shock. The blow to the Cheerleader team was extra hard to take because another member of the squad, 18 year old Nicole Lawrence was severely injured in the accident. Because the crash involved a car load of Penn State Students, Campus officials quickly tried to reach out to any one who was affected by the fatal collision. Special grief counseling was made available at the health and wellness center on the Ivyside Campus for any member of the college community who feels it would be helpful. |
