A female or immature male Black-Crowned Night Heron at Lake Redman in York County. This is in the same section of the lake with the observation deck. All summer long last year this heron hung out in the small trees right beside the deck. He was only about 10-20 feet away from me when I took this photo. He didn’t seem to be afraid of people at all, as he never cared how many people were right there watching him and the other birds – he just sat there and watched us back.
