Reported by: Amy Mearkle Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @03:10am EST On Tuesday, September 22, 2009, the third grade classes in the Mifflin County School District attended the Annual Mifflin County Third Grade Ag Education Tour. The tour is sponsored by the Mifflin County Farm Bureau and other local Agri-Businesses. This year, the students toured the farms of R. Glen Yoder and David Stuck in Belleville. This is a photo of the PA Wool Princess Kristin Stufft and Nancy Aurand's third grade class from Lewistown Elementary School. Kristin's display and demonstration showed the students the many products and by-products of the sheep industry. There were 22 stations visited throughout the day, including milking a cow, milk transfer, animal housing and nutrition, waste management, bees, rabbits, calf raising, equine science, and a corn maze. |
