To better serve it customers in Blair, Cambria, Centre and Clearfield counties, the local chapter has moved to a location at 718 Logan Boulevard. With fifty five employees, the organization reported that it needed more space for for worker training and administrative services. .............................. Mack Trucks has announced its plan to move some assembly operations from Dublin, Virginia to Eastern Pennsylvania. While there will be no additional hiring at this time at the Mack Truck plant in Lehigh County, the Company says by cutting operations in Virginia, it will make the Pennsylvania plant more valuable to the organization. Consolidating the company's production line at this one facility is expected to start in September and wrap up before the end of this year. ...................................... People looking for work are running into more trouble according to the latest numbers released by the federal government. The number of Americans filing for first time unemployment benefits jumped over the last week. More than six point seven million Americans are now collecting unemployment benefits. Organizations that track employment trends say the competition for jobs that do open up is expected to intensify over the coming months. That's because many workers who have stayed with their jobs during the current recession say they will be looking for new positions as soon the national economy starts to recover. Many of the employees who will soon be looking for new jobs say they are planning to move because their current companies have been cutting benefits and pay rates in recent months. |
