Reported by: Kevin Flanigan Thursday, Jan 8, 2009 @05:38pm EST It seems like winter may be with us forever, one new business in the region is betting for the most part on warmer days to come.
Robert's Four Seasons has been in business for a number of years taking care of people's yards and properties in the Altoona area.
Now the company has expanded into the retail power equipment business and moved into the building at 613 North Logan Boulevard.
The former Pet Shop building now features a wide range or power tools and supplies.
While most of the inventory will be useful in the spring, the company also handles equipment that can be used for snow removal along with road salt that can come in handy at this time of year.
The new store is open six days a week.
................................... Another business opening is tied to the arrival of a different season. Liberty Tax Service opened a new office today in the Martin's Plaza on East Chestnut Avenue. The Company already has another office in the Altoona area in the Morningside Plaza on Plank Road. Liberty Tax currently has more that three thousand offices and claims to be the fastest growing retail tax preparation company in the industry. ................................... Late last year, the Altoona City Authority requested that all of it thirty thousand plus customers find ways to conserve water. At the time, the level in the authorities reservoirs had fallen below seventy five percent of capacity. The voluntary restrictions on non-essential uses of water were implemented. Today the authority announced that with all of the recent rain and snow, water levels were back up above ninety five percent of capacity. That mean there is no long any need for system wide conservation measures. ................................ It was a mixed day on wall street with the Dow slightly in the red. |
