The Altoona Curve makes a major announcement about the team’s future.

The Curve is now back in the hands of one of the men who brought the team here in the first place. Monday afternoon Chuck Greenberg announced he was selling the Altoona Curve back to Bob Lozinak.

The Lozinak family was the original team owner in 1999. They sold the Curve to a group led by Greenberg in October 2001. Greenberg says they weren't trying to sell the team, and Bob Lozinak is the only man he would have sold the team to.

The sale still has to be approved by Eastern and Minor League baseball officials.

Lozinak plans to keep the team in Altoona and he wants to keep the affiliation with Pittsburgh Pirates.

Greenberg decided to sell the club because he felt he and his management team couldn't give enough time and attention to the Curve and their other teams to be fair to them both. Greenberg also announced he's forming a new company, the Greenberg Sports Group. Todd Parnell with stay with Greenberg and will head up the management team. They’re going to keep the State College Spikes. And the new company will be based out of the State College Stadium.

Senator John Eichelberger was involved in bringing the Curve and the Blair County Ballpark to Altoona, back when he was a county commissioner.  He says it’s going to be a big change but it will be good for the community.
