Mike Irwin was co-captain and MVP of Joe Paterno's first Penn State team in 1966. He was a three-year starter as a running back and defensive back. Irwin led Penn State in all-purpose yardage as a junior and in interceptions as a sophomore and still ranks in the top 10 at Penn State for all-time punt return average. He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills.

Irwin is the owner and founder of Irwin Financial, Inc., a financial services firm in Altoona. He is an original member of the NitWits, now entering his 11th season.
