Mike’s passion for covering sports started at a very young age. In fact, Scottie Thurman’s three-pointer to capture the 1994 NCAA Championship may have been the realization point. Not only did that shot cost Mike an office pool title, but it also sent him into a 10 minute tirade describing why Arkansas didn’t deserve the crown. At that point his mother told him he should go into sports broadcasting and as they say...the rest is history! Although Mike calls Pennsylvania home for the first time, he is plenty familiar with the Northeast. The Rochester, NY native graced the hardwood and soccer field at Penfield High School before accepting his future was talking about sports not playing them. This realization led him to State University of New York at Cortland where he received a bachelor’s degree in Communications. At Cortland, Mike was the host of Cortland Sports Weekly and was the voice of Red Dragon sports on the schools television station. Mike also has a Master's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University. Mike joined WTAJ Sports in December 2006 after a 10 month stint at WHIZ-TV in Zanesville, OH. Send Mike your sports story ideas. |
