Many regard the job of Chimney Sweep as one of the oldest occupations in the world as there have been chimneys since ancient time. Therefore, it was the perfect first Job for Joe. Hank Taylor from SootSlayers Chimney Sweeps proposed brining me on for a job at Roy and Linda Hess' house near Petersburg. Many who voted wanted to see me get dirty, but the job of a chimney sweep is to be nothing but clean. Every step of the way I learned to keep the dust and debris to a minimum. I climbed the roof, cleaned the chimney and then the wood stove. All in all, it was a tough job, but I think I could do it as long as I had the great helpers that I had that day.
