Reported by: Tessa Mentus Thursday, Nov 19, 2009 @05:49pm EST You've probably got one thing on your mind when you've really got to use the bathroom. On Thursday you might want to thank your toilet before you do your business. Let's be serious for a minute. More than two million people don't have proper sanitation. That's according to the World Toilet Organization. It’s the same group that's giving a tribute fit for a porcelain god. It's important to learn it as a child, and it's kind of just as important for the rest of your life. “I don't have to worry about work, people always have to go,” Jarrod Easter said. Easter owns Dry Ridge Port-A-Johns in Mann’s Choice, When they do go, it's usually in a toilet. So give your commode a pat on the tank. November 19 is World Toilet Day. Toilets come in so many shapes and sizes now-a-days. “Instead of just a standard toilet they want some fluting, more decorative, fancy toilets,” Greg Douglas said. Douglas is the manager at the Beautiful Bathroom in Even the port-a-potties are moving on up. “Actually people request painted ones now for their family reunions and stuff,” Easter said. Potty training might have been scary for you as a child, but even as a grown up you could face some challenges. Like when you really have to go outside in one of those port-a-johns. “So what I always tell everybody if you don't want to see it don't look down,” Easter said. We've come a long way since outhouses and going behind a tree. “This is actually the best flushing toilet on the market right now,” The folks at Beautiful Bath have ones customized for exactly what you put in it. “For liquids if you press one button it flushes .8 gallons. When you flush the other side for solids it's one 1.6 gallons,” Easter could use that kind of power in his port-a-potty business. “I find cell phones a lot, and then you find something from a woman's purse, make up, lipstick something like that,” Easter said. Cleaning out those port-a-potties takes time and an iron stomach, but I think I found him some help. You ever heard of our special segment Jobs for Joe? Easter thinks he could teach our chief meteorologist a thing or two. |
