Reported by: Tessa Mentus Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @10:05am EST BEDFORD - A cross-county showdown -- Bedford versus Chestnut Ridge on the gridiron. Despite the rivalry, the boys and their fans are joining together for this little girl... who has quite the fight ahead of her.
It was October when Heather Miller and her parents learned that she had Ewing's Sarcoma, a form of childhood cancer. Students at Bedford Area High School wanted to do something special for Heather. Although she's a student at Chestnut Ridge Middle School, both Bedford and Chestnut Ridge High School sold T-shirts and bracelets in green, Heather's favorite color. All the profits go to Heather and her family. The players are even letting Heather have a special part in Friday's game. She will be doing the coin flip at the beginning of the game. Even businesses in downtown Bedford painted their windows with support for Heather, saying she has the courage of a lion with the fight of a bison. |
