Reported by: Amy Mearkle Tuesday, Nov 3, 2009 @09:35am EST PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA -- Pittsburgh could see non-stop service to Harrisburg and other smaller cities in the state by early next year if a Fort Lauderdale-based airline's plans take effect.
The "Pittsburgh Post-Gazette" reports that non-stop service from Pittsburgh International Airport to those smaller cities has decreased down to almost nothing because of US Airways' cutbacks. But Gulfstream International Airlines is communicating with the Allegheny County Airport Authority about beginning service to Harrisburg, Du Bois and up to six other cities altogether in the first quarter of next year. Pittsburgh's non-stop flights to Harrisburg stopped in September of 2008 when US Airways stopped that service. (Copyright 2009 by VERTEXNews/Newsroom Solutions) |
