Reported by: Amy Mearkle Friday, Oct 30, 2009 @08:23am EDT HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA -- This Saturday night, October 31st, Pennsylvania families should do another simple task when setting their clocks back one hour as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end. Fire officials say it's also a great time to change the batteries in home smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. While almost all American homes are equipped with smoke alarms, officials say nearly 20% of them have either worn out or are missing batteries. (Copyright 2009 by VERTEXNews/Newsroom Solutions) |
