Reported by: Nate Potter Thursday, Oct 29, 2009 @02:06pm EDT HARRISBURG - State Health Officials said since October 15th the number of cases of Swine Flu in Pennsylvania has significantly increased.
Top health officials said they were surprised by the magnitude of the increase, and they're frustrated with the efforts to vaccinate Pennsylvanians. By Tuesday, October 27th, about 788,000 doses of the H1N1 Vaccine had been sent to medical providers throughout Pennsylvania. Officials said that's about 1 million doses short of what they expected by this time. The Center for Disease Control said that Pennsylvania should receive 6 million doses by January 2010. The State Department of Health said 75% of Swine Flu cases in Pennsylvania are in people between the ages of five and 24. Officials said they are distributing the vaccine evenly throughout Pennsylvania as it comes into the state. They said even if Pennsylvanians can't get vaccinated until January, it's still an important step to take. |
