HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA -- Governor Ed Rendell has set an execution date for a man convicted of a 1981 murder.
Rendell signed the order yesterday for 49-year-old John Amos Small. Authorities say Small and a friend sexually assaulted and fatally beat 18-year-old Cheryl Marie Smith in West Manheim Township.
Small was convicted of first-degree murder and rape in 1996. He will die by lethal injection December 16th at the State Correctional Institution at Greene.
