Penn State Altoona is celebrating their 70th anniversary. And they're also celebrating the opening of their new communication facility in downtown Altoona.

On the third floor of the new Aaron Building downtown is the new communications program. Dr. Bob Trumpbour says they've brought the latest broadcast technology into the building. The video and audio production studios are all connected to the classroom.

The communication center has been in the works for eight years. And Trumpbour says they've been constantly updating the plans and technology.

Ken Womak says the state of the art facility is going to be a real selling point to get new communication students to come to Penn State Altoona. And Trumpbour says those students will be the better prepared than the competition. And Womak says its going to benefit the whole community too.

Students will start having class here at the beginning of next year.
