Reported by: Chief Meteorologist Joe Murgo Friday, Sep 18, 2009 @10:52pm EDT That's a question that I have been getting in some version or another for the past couple of weeks. And I've been telling all of the people the same thing; It's that time of the year. That's right. Meteorologically speaking we are in Autumn and have been for a couple of weeks. Mother Nature doesn't agree with what you see on the calendar. Those season markings have more to do with the position of the sun rather than the weather. Though by the beginning of September the balance of energy for the Northern Hemisphere has switched. We are now losing more energy than gaining and air masses are getting cooler, especially in the high latitudes. This causes our average temperatures to start to fall; pun intended.
