Reported by: Kevin Flanigan Thursday, Sep 3, 2009 @06:55pm EDT Some empty store- fronts in an Altoona area shopping complex are filling up.
And a big boost from Washington is on its way to a Western Pennsylvania Airport.
New tenants have moved into some formerly s empty retail space in the Logan Town Centre. The South Beach Tanning Salon and the adjacent Body Essence Boutique have opened their doors near the Dress Barn in that growing shopping center. Between the two businesses, customers are offered a wide menu of face and body spa treatments along with all sorts of body care products and make up. Among the offerings are a large line of Vera Bradley accessories that have been drawing a lot of attention now that the businesses are open. .................................... Also on its way to the Logan Town Centre will be the Gardner's Candies and Ice Cream Shop that is currently located near the Wal-Mart on Plank Road. While the new store will be a little bit smaller than its current location, the operator is hoping for greater customer traffic and more business. The current location will be shutting down on September 13th with the Logan Town Centre opening to follow as soon as the new store is ready. ................................... The Jimmy Stewart Airport in Indiana County is getting a big boost from Washington. Congressman John Murtha announced on Thursday that the airport will be getting almost four million dollar for a runway expansion project. A new run-way that will be 55-hundred feet long and 100 feet wide will be constructed with the money. Sponsors say the change will allow for planes to land at the airport in all sort of bad weather. The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation. |
