The federal government has released sales figures from its month long cash for clunkers program. It turns out a foreign car makers was the big winner. Toyota came out on top as the biggest winner in the federal government funded cash for clunkers program. The Japanese automaker accounted for 19-percent of all sales. It also had two of the top three best-selling models. The Corolla was number-one and the Camry was number-three. Cash for Clunkers proved to be a big success overall. The government says nearly 700-thousand vehicles were sold through the rebate program.

It's the end of the line for an automotive tradition in the region. The Condrin's Auto Dealership in Cresson, Cambria County has closed it doors. The family behind the dealership opened its doors in Altoona back in 1963. The Condrin group moved its operations from Altoona to Cresson six years ago. The closing is blamed on restructuring of General Motors and the recent downturn in the auto industry. Fifteen jobs have been eliminated with the closing of the dealership on Admiral Perry Highway or old Route 22.

Hundreds of chicken wing fans are converging on Lakemont Park on this Thursday for the final Thursday night wing off of the season. Park officials say it is the combination of wings, beer, music and the party atmosphere that has been drawing people to the event for the past 16 years. The final version of the Wing Off gathering for the year features celebrity judges picking their favorites in the food contest that will provide at least one local restaurant with bragging rights for the coming year. The Wing Off is scheduled to runs until nine in the evening.
