There are signs the real estate market is making a rebound. And one new development for seniors in this region is expanding. The Homewood at Spring House Estates Retirement Community is expanding at a rapid rate. The Continuing Care Retirement community located just off of State Route Thirty between Bedford and Everett in Bedford County. In addition to expanding the existing number of cottage style homes, a large building is going up as part of the complex that will provide one and two bedroom apartments, assisted living suites and a new community center. The first tenants are expected to move into the the new apartment building in October of this year. Homewood currently operates five other retirement communities in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
    ...............................
For the third month in a row, housing sales have been going up. This is the first time more than five years that has happened. The sale of existing homes rose three point six percent in June. The average price of an existing home rose about seven thousand dollars from May to June. But home prices on average are still about fifteen percent down from a year ago. ..............................
A new restaurant with an Australian theme is about to open in Dubois. Aussies, located at corner of South Brady Street and Washington Avenue will be opening on August Seventh. A Grand Opening is set for that day. Owners of the family style restaurant say they plan to hire about thirty people. Renovation work on the building is currently nearing completion. Applications for work in the new restaurant are being accepted at the East Side Sports Bar in Dubois.
