    Mansfield combines the best qualities of a public liberal arts college with the resources of a comprehensive university. With 3,400 students and 180 professors, Mansfield is nestled in the mountains of Northern Pennsylvania. We offer all of what's usually found at much larger universities: an impressive faculty of teacher-scholars, a wide range of courses and majors, career focused experiences, high tech equipment, and the latest facilities. As a Mansfield student, you'll have virtually unlimited access to everyone and everything that's here.

    What Can I Study

    Mansfield offers outstanding academic programs in biology, chemistry, communication, education, the health sciences, music, physics, psychology, and many other fields. Explore any of these subjects in small classes: most classes are 35 or fewer.

    When you look at our programs, we hope you'll conclude that Mansfield is big enough to offer programs spanning a broad range and small enough to encourage you to take off in your own direction.

    Mansfield Is Easy To Access

    Mansfield is nestled in the beautiful mountains of Northern PA at the junction of Routes 6 and 15. We're a half hour south of Corning and 45 minutes south of Elmira, New York; two hours west of Scranton and an hour north of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; and 4-1/2 hours from New York City and Philadelphia.

    Character
    We believe in integrity. We act with honesty and respect toward others. We take responsibility for our actions and reflect on their impact on ourselves and others.

    Scholarship
    We believe in learning. We use rigorous, responsible, and critical inquiry to understand existing knowledge, acquire and share new knowledge, and apply what we learn. Each of us is both student and teacher.

    Culture
    We believe in celebrating humanity. We enrich ourselves and others by sharing and exploring our similarities and differences. We honor the past as we invent the future.

    Service
    We believe in helping others. We work with others to improve the communities in which we now live and will touch in the future. Knowledge invests us with the power to improve our world and the responsibility to act.

    In 1912, our student body adopted the above words, emphasizing their order: “Character as the essential, Scholarship as the means, Culture as the enrichment, and Service as the end of all worthy endeavor.”
