Robin Dorman : Age 51 : Cresson, Cambria County

Robin Dorman knew first hand how hard battling breast cancer can be. Robin’s mother died after a nine year battle with breast cancer.  Just nine months after losing her mom, Robin found a lump while reaching up doing a morning stretch.  On September 13, 2004 Robin was diagnosed with breast cancer. Robin had a biopsy done in just a few days. Three weeks later she had her first chemo treatment.  Determined to not let cancer slow her down, Robin left for vacation just two days later.

Robin underwent 6-8 chemo treatments and lost all of her hair. She then had a lumpectomy and later started radiation treatments five days a week for six weeks.
Robin has been cancer free for over 4 years.

“I learned to live life to the fullest. Take the time to do things that make you happy and enjoy life. With today’s advances in technology being diagnosed with breast cancer no longer means a short life expediency.”

A great source of hope for Robin during her battle was the book “Uplift: Secrets from the Sisterhood of Breast Cancer.”

Robin is now helping others in their fight by helping the American Cancer Society with their annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.  Robin is the team captain for the Holiday Ballroom Dancers walking team.
