Holly Johnson : Age 43 : Lewistown, Mifflin County

Four days before Holly turned 31 she was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer. After a lumpectomy, Holly and the doctors decided her best defense was mastectomy.  She then went through 4 chemotherapy sessions.

Holly said her biggest source of hope during her fight was her children.  They were ages 5, 12, and 13 at the time and she knew she needed to be there for them.

“Breast cancer is a disease.  You go through the surgeries and treatments. You are left with scares that are every day reminders of how far you have come. But breast cancer is NOT what defines you as a person.  It was just another step in life that made me a stronger person.  No matter how old you are, you can get breast cancer, and you can survive it.”
