Nancy Sutton : Age 58 : Altoona, Blair County

Occupation : Owner of Holiday Pools and Spas/Holiday Ballroom

Nancy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998. She underwent a lumpectomy, radiation and follow up doctor’s visits for five years.  She has now been cancer free for 11 years.

“After you find out you have cancer, you really learn what and who is important in your life. It changes your perspective.  You become a stronger person.  I was forced to find courage I didn’t know I had.”

The source of hope that helped Nancy the most in her fight was the support and care she received from family, friends, caregivers and other cancer survivors.

Nancy is now helping others in their fight by supporting the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. In the first year of being active with Making Strides Nancy’s team was one of the top ten fundraising teams.
