A Special Note from Amy Mearkle

Amy-Mearkle072007-09-06-1189094245.jpgHello! Thanks for stopping by the WTAJ News This Morning - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk webpage. It is my honor to serve as an Honorary Chairperson for this spirited, noncompetitive walk that helps save lives.

If it hasn't already, breast cancer will touch you or someone you know.  The disease will strike more than 200,000 times this year and will claim 40,000 lives in the United States.  More than 11,000 of those women will be from Pennsylvania and 2,000 of them will loose their battle with this disease.

    A Call for Help!
We need your help in making a difference and building hope. What  better way to honor the many lives touched by breast cancer than by helping to raise funds for the American Cancer Society's crucial programs.

It is really easy to help!!  All you have to do is sign up to walk.  A team can be two walkers.  Call or email your friends, family members, church groups, community groups and before you know,  you will have a team of people coming together to make a difference.

Join Amy's Team or Make a Donation to Amy's team by clicking here.

Thanks for helping keep hope alive!

    ***SPECIAL NOTE***
A huge Thank You goes out to all the Making Strides Committee members and the American Cancer Society Staff and all the walking teams for making the 2009 walk a success!  At the last minute we decided to move inside (who wanted to be soaked 2 years in a row??) and it worked out well.  Thank you to the Logan Valley Mall for allowing us to Make Strides - inside on such short notice.

Once again, each walker stepped up to the challenge and we were able to reach our fundraising goal.  This year's goal for the walk was to raise $112,000.  We achieved our goal thanks to your hard work and determination.

It is a tough year for everyone financially, but cancer doesn't slow down just because the economy does.  You met the challenge and worked harder than ever to make a difference.  With each step we make a difference, we make history and we Make Strides.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication.  While the walk is over for this year, we now gear up for another year ahead.  Keep checking this website for the Making Strides Fundraisers that will be held all year long.  We are making a difference!

    Thank you for your help!
