(Portland, ME) – For the fourth time this season, the Altoona Curve were fruitless in their bid for a season-high fourth consecutive win falling to the Portland SeaDogs on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field 9-0. Curve pitching walked a total of nine batters, one shy of their season high, and hit one as the Curve also committed two crucial errors in the defeat. Additionally, Altoona proceeded to go just 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position in the loss. Starter Kyle Bloom lasted just 3.2 innings as the lefty walked five, one shy of his career-high while allowing four runs (two earned) to cross the plate. After the first two runs scored, Bloom induced what would have been the inning-ending ground ball to shortstop Brian Friday, but Friday’s throw went wide of second base and in to the right field corner on an attempt at a force play allowing two additional runs to score. |
